Executive Director/Preschool Program

General Description

Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish is seeking an Executive Director for their Day Nursery. The Preschool Director is responsible for establishing and operating a preschool program for children ages two years through pre-kindergarten. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of program operations, as well as fiscal management and program evaluation. In collaboration with the Board of Directors (to be established), the Executive Director will work to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the school. This includes leadership of marketing and advertisement, staff recruitment, child enrollment processes, curriculum development, classroom management, staff development and the exmissions process for children moving onto kindergarten. The Executive Director creates an open and honest working environment that inspires professionalism and rewards creative, innovative teaching.

Essential Job Functions

1. Lead a team of teachers and other staff in the establishment and operation of a premier Christian preschool, including daily operations and special events.
2. Develop and implement a marketing/advertisement plan that creates interest in the preschool and fuels strong enrollment.
3. Recruit and train teachers and other staff as needed to staff preschool classrooms and special events.
4. Establish enrollment processes that ensure children are enrolled efficiently, acclimated smoothly into their classroom, and monitored to ensure success.
5. Respond promptly to family and community inquires related to the program, teachers, administrators, families, and external support personal as needed.
6. Regularly select and/or develop curriculum for a preschool children’s education program that is developmentally appropriate, educational, and supports a Catholic preschool environment.
7. Establish and monitor classroom management practices that ensure a safe, secure, and orderly preschool environment is maintained.
8. Regularly monitor, evaluate, and develop preschool staff ensuring a “continuous learning” culture is developed and fostered so that practices are continuously improved.
9. In collaboration with the Board of Directors and the Parish, develop an annual budget and monitor expenditures for the preschool accordingly,
10. Keep abreast of trends in the field of early childhood education and special education, and state and city regulation updates.
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
12. Ability to exercise discretion and judgement in maintaining confidentiality related to students and families.
13. Able to seek and utilize community resources to enhance programming.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

This position requires:
-a minimum of three years experience as a leader in an early childhood education program,
-a successful teaching practice in an early childhood/special education setting,
-a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, or early childhood special education.

The successful individual will be a strong leader with a solid work ethic, possess a passion for teaching young children, and a proven track record as an administrator.
A working knowledge of NAEYC standards and program accreditation requirements, a Master’s Degree, and a school building leadership certification, preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience.
